Your 140 character pitch! Free the Girls is a 501C3 non-profit that provides job opportunities to women rescued from sex trafficking.

Your Elevateher Pitch! Free the Girls works to provide economic empowerment for women rescued from sex trafficking. We collect gently used bras and donate those bras as starting inventory for the women to have their own business selling the bras.

Your immediate region: Headquartered in Colorado. Working in Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and El Salvador.

Featured products/services: economic empowerment for survivors of sex trafficking; t-shirts to raise awareness and funds for the cause.

What do people think you do for a living? Collect bras!  :) They call me “the bra lady”

What do you actually do for a living? As head of the Free The Girls U.S. office, I’m responsible for day-to- day domestic operations of the organization, which includes speaking to women’s groups on the subject of human trafficking, igniting fires in new abolitionists, raising funds for the cause, and packing and shipping thousands of bras.

Tell us about your passions! women’s issues, my family, movies, music, singing, cooking, and word games of all sorts (ask me to tell you about being a contestant on Wheel of Fortune!).

Who|what inspires what you do? the women in our program–their strength and courage is both humbling and inspiring

Was there a turning point in your life that led you to your current career? There wasn’t a particular “aha!” moment, just general burnout and unrest in my previous career as a tv/video producer.  Then when our co-founder, Dave Terpstra, approached with the idea for Free The Girls, it grabbed me and wouldn’t let go.

If money weren’t a factor, what would you be doing? I’ve been working as a volunteer for Free The Girls for three years now, so money is not a factor personally in what I currently do. It would be great to hire some staff and expand our reach so we can help more survivors.

What’s in your Bucket List? I knew I was forgetting something!  I don’t have a bucket list!  Hmm, I definitely need to put some travel destinations on that list…

Knowing all you know now, what would you tell your 20 year old self? Relax and be patient.  Be still and trust God.

What’s you go-to stress reliever? Should I admit this?  Words With Friends and a glass of wine.

How do you perceive retirement? Downsizing and slowing down.  Savoring experiences and the beauty of the world around us.

Do you have a personal philosophy you’d like to share?

“You can’t do everything, but you can do something.

What is the something that you can do?”

What would you like your legacy to be? LOVE.
