Red Orange: July’s Bold Lip Challenge
In the words of Julia Roberts, this is my “sig-nuh-cha cuh-lah.” It’s my go-to when I need a boost of confidence by way of a bright shot of lipstick. This matte, orange shade is very dry, which is actually the key to longevity. Lip balm layered over top solves the moisture issue. Devastatingly, its been discontinued, so snatch up a few if you can find it. Not to fear, I found five more options for red-orange lovers like me.
When my favorite lip color (above) hit the discontinued list, I went on a quest to match it. This is my favorite replacement. The unique chubby crayon-like pencil makes it easy to apply, and the matte velvet texture feels just like its name. More red than orange, it’s a great update for someone who already adores a classic red.
Warning: this is Orange with a capital O. If you have a summer tan, or a medium-to-deep skin tone, this can look unexpected and fun. Although it looks like a gloss, it’s actually a liquid lipstick, which means lots of pigment, and lots of staying power.
Lipgloss does not work for the #boldlipchallenge: anything sheer is not going to pack enough moxie. But if you are addicted to shine, here’s an option for you. This formula is so hydrating and shiny that you’ll forget its a lipstick. Gloss be gone!
This lip wear is wrapped in an actual leather case. Can we just discuss how glam that is? Its like your lipstick has its own Givenchy handbag. The hue is the most muted of the group, if you are just dipping your toe into the bold lip waters.
(6) Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Orange Poppy Stila released this formula as a replacement for my beloved lipstick. I’ve yet to try it, but the color looks quite close, and the formula promises added moisture. Choose this if you are a lip-balm lover, ready to take the saturated color plunge.
