Brief Biography:

Upon enlisting in the United States Army Reserves in July 1999, I attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, after which, I completed my Advance Individual Training (AIT) for the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of Civil Affairs Specialist (38B) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After taking AIT, I attended the Defense Language Institute (DLI) at Monterey, California where I attained my French language rating and subsequently my Associates Degree in French. In February/March 2003, I deployed with the 422nd Civil Affairs BN to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). It was there that I found my passion for working with those most affected by the conflict, the local population. This desire to work with the local populace led to my voluntary deployment to Afghanistan from 2004 to2005 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan (OEF-A). In October 2007, I changed my MOS from Civil Affairs to All-Source-Intelligence Analyst in an effort to gain a more comprehensive perspective on national security and humanitarian assistance and to hone my analytical skills.  My experiences, both professional and academic, have offered me not only practical skills and on-the-ground interaction with local populations, the military, and other governmental agencies; they have provided me with an expansive literary and theoretical background through which to better analyze conflict, including indicators of conflict and pre-conditions as well as post-conflict issues. Most importantly, my career has afforded me the opportunity to work alongside some of the most honorable men and women I’ve ever known, to befriend people of all nationalities and from all walks of life and to represent the United States in diverse locations, from Iraq to Afghanistan to France. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to demonstrate and share with foreign populations the integrity and generosity of the American people. Serving with the United States Armed Forces has truly been an honor, and I would like to continue to do so in whatever capacity available alongside my civilian career.
