Coral: August’s Bold Lip Challenge
Summer is winding down, but before we trade in our sandals for boots, its time for one last shot at a sunny hue. Coral is a go-to summer shade, and this one (more on the pinky side), is bright and beachy. Fun fact: as the opposite of turquoise on the color wheel, coral pink is perfect to wear with summer beads and bathing suits in a blue-green tone.
Urban Decay is famous for its highly-pigmented, long-wearing liners, and now lips get the benefit with this new addition to the line. Perfect for ladies who want all the color payout in one swipe, this performance-focused formula won’t disappoint.
I chose this color for a client of mine on her wedding day, and after seeing the unique shade on her, my assistant and I immediately went out and bought one for ourselves. If you are used to the dramatic eye/ nude lip combo, making the bold lip switch can be hard. This coral shade is bright, but light, so that you don’t have to lose the smoky look you love.
I’m a sucker for gorgeous packaging, and a big fan of Tarte (the cheek tints changed my life, and my face, back in college). This coral shade is the ever-perfect product of a happy meeting between pink and orange, making the “Timeless” name so apropos.
Josie Maran is all about products that feel good. This lipstick is a spa day for your lips: smoothing with rich emollients, the leaving behind a silky caress of hydrating balm. Yes, its lipstick, but if you are a balm addict, you won’t know the difference.
If you are forever buying lipsticks that sit in your drawer, waiting until you decide if they look right for the wearing, I have your solution. Make Up For Ever is a makeup artist brand, meaning its meant for perfectionists like me needing the exact right shade. For you, this means there are three shades of coral to choose from for the challenge. To they eye, they look almost identical. On your face, one will stand out as your perfect match. Easy choice? Sold.
